Situation and purpose

An opinion is easier to discuss when it includes a reason. I think and in my view introduce your perspective. Acknowledge the other person’s point before explaining a different preference. Polite wording should still make the disagreement clear enough for a shared decision.

Useful expressions

Examples

1. I agree with that suggestion.

   ខ្ញុំយល់ស្របនឹងសំណើនោះ។

2. I’m not sure that would work.

   ខ្ញុំមិនប្រាកដថាវាអាចដំណើរការបាន។

3. Could we try another option?

   តើយើងអាចសាកជម្រើសផ្សេងបានទេ?

4. That seems practical to me.

   តាមខ្ញុំ វាមើលទៅអនុវត្តបាន។

Model conversation

Dara: I think we should meet in the morning.

Maly: I see your point, but some people work then.

Dara: That’s true. Would the afternoon be better?

Maly: I think so. More people could attend.

Dara: Shall we ask the group?

Maly: Yes, let’s check before deciding.

Common mistakes

Instead of	Use	Why
I am agree with you.	I agree with you.	Agree is a verb; do not add am.
What you think about it?	What do you think about it?	Use do in the direct present-simple question.
