Writing focus

A routine paragraph usually uses the present simple. Give enough times and sequence markers to guide the reader, but avoid starting every sentence with then. Frequency words such as usually and sometimes show how regular an activity is. Use different wording only when it improves clarity, not to avoid every repetition.

កថាខណ្ឌទម្លាប់ប្រើ present simple ជាទូទៅ។ បន្ថែមម៉ោង និងពាក្យលំដាប់តាមតម្រូវការ ប៉ុន្តែមិនត្រូវចាប់គ្រប់ប្រយោគដោយ then ទេ។ Usually/sometimes បង្ហាញភាពញឹកញាប់។

Examples

1. I usually wake up at six.

   ជាធម្មតា ខ្ញុំភ្ញាក់ម៉ោងប្រាំមួយ។

2. After breakfast, I walk to work.

   ក្រោយអាហារពេលព្រឹក ខ្ញុំដើរទៅធ្វើការ។

3. I sometimes read on the bus.

   ពេលខ្លះ ខ្ញុំអានលើឡានក្រុង។

4. In the evening, I revise my lessons.

   ពេលល្ងាច ខ្ញុំរំលឹកមេរៀន។

Model writing

On weekdays, I usually get up at six. After breakfast, I walk to the bus stop and travel to work. I have lunch with my colleagues at noon. In the evening, I study English for half an hour before helping my family prepare dinner. I usually go to bed at ten.

Common mistakes

Instead of	Use	Why
Every day, she go to work.	Every day, she goes to work.	Third-person singular present takes -es here.
I usually am getting up at six. (ordinary routine)	I usually get up at six.	Present simple is the neutral form for this routine.
