Negative Adverbial Inversion
Updated Oct 28, 2026
Use auxiliary inversion after fronted negative expressions.
What you’ll learn
Use auxiliary inversion after fronted negative expressions.
ប្រើ inversion ក្រោយពាក្យអវិជ្ជមាននៅដើមឃ្លា។
Meaning and use
Fronting a negative or restrictive expression such as never, rarely, or not until can trigger subject–auxiliary inversion in formal or emphatic writing. If the clause has no auxiliary, add do, does, or did. With not until and only after, invert the main clause, not the subordinate time clause.

| Rarely does she complains. | Rarely does she complain. | With does, the lexical verb takes its base form. |
